The unidentified flying bbject was described as follows: silver in color, there was no indication as to type of propulsion and no sound was audible. Oblong in shape round on leading edge with fish tail shape on trailing edge. Size unkmown, however observers reported there were two (2) or three (3) single jets and one (1) bomber in the vicinity at time of observation. The jets appeared to be making passes at the bomber. The observer reported the object went in to a zig zag motion at the time the planes were overhead. Reports indicated that the object was trying to avoid any contact with the airplanes. At time of first observance the object appeared to be at a low altitude disappear- ing to the West at a tremendous high altitude. 2. The object was first sighted about 2215 Z, 3 February 1953 and was observed until about 2317 Z. 3. Observations were made from ground level. Object was first sighted by naked eye and then observed for about thirty (30) minutes through eight (8) power binoculars. 4. The oobject was sighted overhead and slightly South of a position 114° 15! Bast 42° 55: North, over Dietrich, Idaho. Altitude of first sighting about seven-thousand (7000) feet disappearing to the West at an unknown altitude. 5. Names of witnesses: JeVe Salkield, Chief Observer at Dietrich, Idaho. Age 39 Neil Bolton, Supervisor at Dietrich, Idaho. Age 55 lewis Jauregui, Farmer, Age 30 W.C. Stevens, Farmer. Age 45 Bill Chapin, Post Master. Age 60 All of the observers should be fairly accurate. Mr. Salkield and Mr. Bolton have attended several of the Air Force training meetings on how to report aircraft, etc. All observers reside at Dietrich, Idaho. 6. Reported weather conditions at the time of observation were: scattered clouds at 5500 feet, visibility 30 miles, temperature 62 degrees, dewpoint 39, and wind Southeast at 7 knots. Highest wind aloft 230° 25 — 60 KPH, at 15,000 feet. 7. There was no known activities or conditions that could account for the sighting. 8. There is no physical evidence. 9. Not attempted. 10. Only the single jets and one bomber were known to be in the area at that ‘time, disappearing to the Southeast. NOTE: THIS DOCUMENT CONTAINS.
