Chandler concern- ing observation of unidentified object: 1. DESCRIPTION: Object appeared to be 18 to 24 inches in diameter, or about the | same size as the Moon. The shape was round, completely circular; disc, and apparent size was 18 to 24 inches. It was silvery in color, and only one in sight. There was no trail of exhaust or compulsory system. Hstimated speed would be about 500 to 750 miles per hour. There was no sound, Object was in a straight and level flight. Object disappeared from sight above horizon. 2e TIME OF SIGHTING: 1034 hours, 14 January 1953. Observed object for from forty to sixty seconds, 3- OBSERVATION MADE: Surface visually. he LOCATION OF OBSERVER: Northeast section of Austin, Texas. 5, LOGATION OF OBJECT: Approximately 60° above the horizon, traveling in the é direction of south-southeast. 6. WEATHER AND WINDS ALOFT: Cloud condition, 1200 scattered. Visibility, 12 miles, Temperature, 6L2 Dew-point, 59°, Surface winds, 18 knots from the south, There were high scattered clouds at 30,000 feet. Winds aloft were as follows: 16,000 feet 2808 27 knots 18,000 feet 280, 33 knots 20,000 feet 280, 32 knots 25,000 feet 300: 38 knots 30,000 feet 310° 45 knots 35,000 feet 310, 70 knots 40,000 feet 310 70 knots 7e No activities or conditions, meteorological or otherwise, which might account for the sighting are known. 8. There was no physical evidence such as fragments, photographs, and the like of the sighting. 9. Location of air traffic in the general area at the time of the sighting: Local flights recorded at Bergstrom Air Force Base, six miles southeast of Austin, included two (2) F-84s, one (1) T-33, and one (1) 0-47.
