15 August 1952 About 220 hours, on the evening of 1 August 1952, I and a friend, ~Af/20 Steinberg, were standing by Barracks T-347 facing the lake. I noticed a light due west coming east and brought it to Steinberg's atten- tion who verified the object. It was as bright as the North Star and it zig-zagged slightly to the left and right as it continued to come east. It paused for several seconds and then headed back on a northwest course and disappeared over the horizon in the vicinity of the Jet Bar. All this took about two (2) minutes. We then waited and watched in the same direction in anticipation of another one. Another approached at apprex- imately 2249 hours following the same angle as the first. It was from the direction of due west and coming east. However, this one continued to rise and continue east. It paused two (2) times for one (1) and five (5) min- utes, respectively. When it paused the second time, we called A/1c Smith, who was passing, to watch the object. This was at approximately 2255 hours. After calling A/1C Smith, Steinberg and I reported the incident to the Staff Duty Officer of Hq Tenth AF. He came back with us to see the object. However, by that time (2300), it had faded from view. The Staff Duty Officer stayed until approximately 2310 and then returned to his office. I left approximately five (5) minutes later. At the time of the sighting, the sky was very clear. The object made no sound, and when it paused for the five (5) minute period, it resembled a bright star.
