At 352, 2, July 1952, Mr. Robert A, Reidel, dr», Broadview, illinois, upon leaving his place of employment observed three (3) large, intensely bright, self-illuminated lights in the skye Mr. Reidel states that the objects were fly- ing in a loose, widely spaced "V" formation at a point due west of his position at the time and moving toward the south. Mr. Reidel noted that the only light or object trailing the formation appeared to be a small red light or slow at the rear of each object. No form or shape of the objects was distinguishable and no sound could be heard. While the obj@cts were at this position, Mr. Reidel observed a conventional type, single-engine aircraft fly past apparently below the objects on a course of WNW; the running lights of the conventional aircraft were plainly visible and the sound of its engine clearly and loudly audible in contrast to the silence of the unidentified objects. 2. Mr Reidel drove fourteen (1) blocks te his home at a speed of approxi- mately 30 MPH. Upon arrival at his home, Mr Reidel, his wife and his mother~ in-law observed the objects disappear into the southwest. %< Mre Reidel gives these reasons for his belief that the objects were not conventional aircrafts a.: No beams emanating from the objects. b. The objects appeared the same at all positions observed which were head-on, rear and side. c. Flying speed of the objects was approximately the same as speed Mr. Reidel was driving in his car which could hardly be achieved and main= tained by conventional aircraft. d. If the objects had been conventional type aircraft, the slow seeming speed would have necessitated an extremely high altitude and the conventional type aircraft lights would not have seemed so large, bright, in- tense and immediate to a ground observer. @.
