SUMMARY: (Enter concise summary of report. Give significance in final one-sentence paragraph. List inclosures at lower left. Begin text of report on AF Form 112—Part II.)
1. This report contains information of the sighting of an aerial
phenomenon from the campus of Cornell University at 0757, 17 December 1952,
2. Lt. Kubanis reported in letter form the observation of a light resembl-
ing a jet exhaust, greenish-blue with an orange trail which was moving in a
westerly direction at a very high speed. It appeared to traverse 30 degrees
of arc in approximately two seconds. High cirrus clouds estimated at more
than 20,000 feet altitude were present, The light disappeared from view behind
the leading edge of the cloud. No aircraft structure was visible. The light
appeared to be elongated and traveling in a horizonal plane. Considering the
altitude and arc traversed, the ohservers estimated the speed to be in excess
of 700 miles per hour,
