C. 1. At 2015 hours, 7 July, 1952, Capt. Harry D. Black, USAF, noted an unusual occurrance in the sky over Fort Bragg, North Carolina, The phenomena was also witnessed by Mrs, Clare V, Black. The following information regarding this phenomena r your information: a. Times 2015 hours, 7 July 1952 be Place: Fort Bragg, North Carolina Ce Weather condition: Low scattered overcast, d. Incident: A large green light, solid in the center, with a nebula surrounding it, travelling in a northerly direction at an estimated approximate speed of 1,00 mph. From the far (or eastern side) a trail of isolated red lights were visible, The nebula on the object was constant, and had no indication of resistance by atmosphere, The object was visible for approximately three (3) seconds, e. Altitude: At first impression, it appeared to be approximately 3000 to 5000 feet. This is subject to considerable error since there was no. means.of estimating the actual size of the object, or other comparative data. In the momentary view of it, it appeared to be equivalent to the size of the full moon, f. Other data: The nebula was irregular, slightly lighter in color than the core. Its position in the sky was about })5 to 50 derrees, It disappeared behind clouds which were.too dense to permit any further observing. No interception or identification action was taken, COMMENTS of Preparing Officer: 1, I have had an-interview with the officer who observed the phenomenon des— cribed below, This officer has had previous experience as an observer and reporter for the Air Materiel Command at Muroc, California. He was working for this Command cn the "Flying Saucer” Project and by reason of his experience along that line, he impressed me as having a good knowledge of the subject.
