Intel Off 62D TC WING (H) 530] | PAGE OF PAGES On 8 January 1953 the sighting of an unidentified flying object was reported by members of the 82d Fighter=Interceptor Squadron, a unit of the Air Defense Command stationed at Ierson AFB, The following information was secured by Lt George G, Graham and myself during the time following the sightings. Descriptions of the objedt were varied, ise,, cigar shaped, round like e disc, similiar to the tailpipe of a F94 but the concensus of opinion was that it was circular somewhat resembling a large weather ballon and all agreed that it was green in color. There was no report of sound connected with the sighting and the maneuvors were described as bobbing, going sideways but always in the same general SouthWesterly direction from the base, The first sighting was at 0715 and it could not be observed after 0730, The majority of the observers were in the squadron aréa on the base but several reported seeing the object while driving toward the base from EPHRATA, WASH, a small town 14 miles NNE of Iarson AFB, All observations were Brom the ground and were visual, A check with radar sites in this vicinity show that no unusual objects or activity was noted et this time, There were no wheather balloan launches from this base during the reporting period. The following weather conditions existed over the base and in the vicinity; LARSON AFB @727 9,00@! Broken, 12,060' overcast, Surface winds S*SW 26knots with gusts up to 36knots visibility 16 miles.
