Begin tert of report on AF Form 112—Part II.) 20 Observers Object was reported by 15 observers at Draughon-Miller Airport, Temple, Texas, 97°25°W 31°10°N; by 2 observers on flight near Evant, Texas, 98°10'°W 31°28'N; 2 observers at Stephensville, Texas, 98°12'W 32°13'Ns; and 1 observer in Temple, Texas, 97°20'W 31°07'N, at approximately 2045 hours 2 April 1952 for a period of 10 « 40 seconds. Object appeared to be round ball of fire giving off greenish glow and having a red and yellow tail of fire and sparks. Object emitted two or three smaller balls of fire which burned out. It traveled a straight South - North course West of Temple, Texas, at about 030 degrees heading and disappeared behind clouds. Speed estimated from 500 to 6,000 MPH. Altitude estimated 10,000 to 150,000 feet, flat trajectorye Sound reported similar to that of jet aircraft. All sightings visual. Two observers at Evant, Texas, were in RB=26 at 4500' altitude flying South. All others were at ground level. Declassification Authority: NND 57565 REPORT OF "“PLYING SAUCER" At approximately 2050 hours on 2 April 1952, Lt. Robert Baldwin of the 727th ACEH Squadron telephoned the Ohief Duty Controller at Sxceed ‘that he had just seen a “flying saucer", Lt. Baldwin was inspecting the guard at an entrance to the aréa when he saw an object appear from a southwesterly direction and pass overhead continuing for some ten (10) _ geconds to the ME at which time it disappeared below the horizon, In Lt. Baldwin's opinion, at no time did the object leave ea trail such as a meteor gives off. Arcproximately half way along it's path it appeared to add speed, which was evideneed by an increase in the trail of fire, lasting xpproximately three (3) or four (4) seconds, then re- verting to a slight glow. In his estimation the speed of the object was between 1000/1200 mph. Immediately after the passage of the object, it was possible to hear it. The sound was the same as given off by a jet aircraft at high altitude and enpéed, The object was witnessed by Lt. Baidwin, Set. Uarey and Pie.
