REPORT OF “FLYING SAUCER" At approximately 2050 hours on 2 April 1952, Lt. Robert Baldwin of the 727th AC&W Squadron telephoned the Ohief Duty Controller at Exceed “that he had just seen a “flying saucer", Lt. Baldwin was inspecting the guard at an entrance to the area when he saw an object appear from a southwesterly direction and pass overhead continuing for some ten (10) ' geconds to the ME at which time it disappeared below the horizon, In Lt. Baldwin's opinion, at no time did the object leave a trail such as a meteor gives off. Approximately half way along it's path it appeared to add speed, which was evidenced by an increase in the trail of fire, lasting approximately three (3) or four (4) seconds, then re- verting to a slight glow. In his estimation the speed of the object was between 1000/1200 mph, Inmediately after the passage of the object, it was possible to hear it. The sound was the same as given off by a jet aircraft at high altitude and epéed, The object was witnessed by Lt. Baidwin, Set.
