Object was reported by 15 observers at Draughon-Miller Airport,
Temple, Texas, 979°25*W 31°10°*N; by 2 observers on flight near Evant,
Texas, 98°10'W 31°28'N; 2 observers at Stephensville, Texas,
98°12'W 32°13'Ns and 1 observer in Temple, Texas, 97°20'W 31°O7'N,
at approximately 2045 hours 2 April 1952 for a period of 10 «= 40
seconds.
Object appeared to be round ball of fire giving off greenish
glow end having a red and yellow tail of fire and sparks. Object
emitted two or three smaller balls of fire which burned out. It
traveled a straight South - North course West of Temple, Texas,
at about 030 degrees heading and disappeared behind clouds. Speed
estimated from 500 to 6,000 MPH. Altitude estimated 10,000 to
150,000 feet, flat trajectory. Sound reported similar to that
of jet aircraft. All sightings visual.
Two observers at Evant, Texas, were in RB=26 at 4500' altitude
flying South. All others were at ground level.
Weather sequence 2028 hours, clouds thin scattered 25,000';
visibility 12 miles, surface winds East at 4 knots.
