As an optometrist and perceptual lighting specialist, information regarding the nature of the "light belts" and the conditions during which they were observed could, potentially, prove quite significant in my ongoing research of the sensory aspects of color vision. I am anxious to obtain relevant data concerning this incident. Would it be possible to obtain a CORY of the official FAA re2ort and a transcript of · communications between the flight crew and ground controllers? To whom it may concern: February, 27,1987 According to an article in the Chicago Tribune recently, it was stated that information pertaining to the incident of November of last year, involing the Japenese Air Lines pilot sighting of an Unidentified Flying Object, could be had by writlling to re- quest same. It was futher stated that each form was 30 cent,and a cassette was 50 dollars. However, the article indicated that request of less than 5 dollars were to be provided free of charge. I would like any and all info1mation that can be obtained that total just under the 5 dollar limit for free information. The Chicago also suggested that your agency was being deluged with similar request. I appreciate yoμr taking the time to provide curious taxpayers such as me, with this information.
